1. Video
When the Ring Video Doorbell came out, it surprised a lot of people with its video streaming capabilities. This video could be streamed directly to your phone. That was one reason why this product is very popular with the intrepid homeowners.
This video was streamed in 720p though, which although quite innovative for a doorbell, the technology itself was already outdated at that point. Then came the Ring Video Doorbell 2.
Usually, a second iteration of a product is meant to improve on the failings of the first, and also incorporate new technologies and other features into them. That’s what Ring have done with the Video Doorbell 2.
This little innovative device can now stream video in 1080p HD. This is quite a step up from 720p, which means the streamed and recorded video is of a higher quality. This of course means that the technology behind the video also had to be upgraded to accommodate this newer, demanding video format.

2. Power
Ah yes, even though the Video Doorbells may be a great innovation, it still doesn’t move away from the need to have power to function. Very many forms of technology require some way to juice them to get the best out of them.
The Ring Video Doorbell can be powered using a hardwire of 8-24 VAC. Bt it wouldn’t be an innovation if it didn’t include alternative ways to power it. The Video Doorbell can also be powered by rechargeable batteries. Depending on usage, the batteries can last anywhere up to three months.
The Ring Video Doorbell 2 doesn’t step too far away from this. But this time, some more innovations have been made. Taking out the batteries is a matter of releasing it from its hold at the bottom of the device, taking it in to charge, or swapping for a fully charged one. It can also be powered by a hard wire.

3. Mounting
The Video Doorbell comes with a mounting bracket to help you mount the device to your doorpost. Included are also tools to help you mount the device. The difference, though, is that it can only be mounted in one direction.
Ring Video Doorbell 2 makes some improvements to this drawback. It includes mounting brackets that are at an angle, to help you mount the device, either to face a corner if the way leading to your door is at an angle, or to face slightly downwards if you want a different view, or want to mount it a bit higher.
